Software Engineering Intern

Department: Engineering
Location: Bozeman, MT, United States

onX is a pioneer in digital outdoor navigation. With offices in Missoula and Bozeman, Montana, we are inspired by the landscapes that surround us. We bring our outdoor passion to work every day with a singular goal–to awaken the adventurer in everyone. We do this by engineering industry-leading technology, and by crafting dynamic outdoor experiences.

Through multiple years of growth, we haven’t lost our entrepreneurial ethos at onX. We offer a fast-paced, tech-forward environment where ownership and accountability are essential.

At onX, our mission is clear: Awaken the adventurer inside everyone. We are passionate about the outdoors and curious about mapping technologies, and we always strive to put our customers first through building trust and value in our apps.

As an onX intern, you are a full-time engineer and a valued part of our team. Together, we work collaboratively to enhance our best-in-class mapping technology in order to help create memorable outdoor experiences for our amazing customers. Across the technical stack which includes mobile, web, and backend, you will have opportunities to expand your skills and experience and align your technical interests with our goals and initiatives.

As an onX Software Engineering Intern, you will gain real-world experience and learn what it means to be a professional engineer, learning from a world-class team of engineers who bring experience from companies like Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Big Nerd Ranch, Oracle, Under Armour, as well as various startups. You’ll be embedded with a product development team during your internship - participating in sprint planning, retrospectives, code reviews, and team activities, and you will get a chance to work with your team building on key areas of the app experience. You will be an integral part of the onX engineering team, working alongside product managers and designers to ship code. At the end of your onX internship, you’ll be able to point to some part of our app and say “I helped build that for our customers."
