WE ARE LOOKING FOR

onX is seeking a highly creative, solutions-oriented, and data-driven Head of Marketing Programs. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building brand-amplifying programs that: (1) Establish onX as the best-loved outdoor app to awaken the adventurer in everyone, and that (2) elevate onX as an authentic brand promoting land access and stewardship for all outdoor recreation. 

More specifically, you’ll be responsible for driving onX brand awareness and increasing onX brand affinity through various customer touchpoints including PR, live events, webinars, swag, partnerships, storytelling, and stewardship-focused product development. You’ll need to be comfortable leading directly as well as cross-functionally, navigating a broadly scoped but loosely-defined role, and confidently generating fresh program ideas to appeal to a wide variety of outdoor-focused customer personas. This leadership role is critical to our brand development and growth strategy and presents multiple opportunities to spearhead new initiatives. This position will report to the VP of Marketing & Growth. 

LOCATION
Missoula, MT or Bozeman, MT preferred. Remote considered for strongly qualified candidates. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

(Essential Job Duties)

  • Direct the strategic vision and implementation of marketing programs to drive onX brand awareness and increase onX brand affinity across multiple channels, for onX at-large as well as for each of our verticals (onX Hunt, onX Offroad, and onX Backcountry). 
  • Nurture the development of onX as a purpose-driven brand, by influencing our corporate actions and by inspiring the direction of the stories we tell.
  • Lead, mentor, and expand a motivated team of 5+ marketers across multiple functions (PR/Comms, Land Access/Stewardship programs, Customer Marketing, Live Events). 
  • Generate big ideas and drive a culture of innovation and customer focus, building new programs from the ground up with your team and using a test-and-learn approach to deliver results.
  • Elevate and directly influence onX storytelling about Stewardship and Land Access initiatives, including scoping and facilitating “big data” storytelling, across multiple channels.  
  • Partner with Creative Director and Content Marketing Leader, who own the onX visual brand aesthetic and the onX storytelling brand voice respectively, to amplify our creative assets and support how we bring the onX brand to life.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to understand business needs, identify and support new growth initiatives, and optimize the customer brand-affinity journey from initial awareness through to retention and evangelism.
  • Support and leverage strategic partnerships, in many cases built by other teams, to define new programs and accelerate onX brand awareness; directly support the development of stewardship and access-related partnerships.
  • Provide regular KPI and campaign reporting tailored to multiple stakeholders. Develop new KPIs and new measurement strategies as needed to evaluate program impact.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nine (9) or more years of marketing programs experience, with direct expertise in PR/Comms, Events Marketing, Customer Marketing, and/or Brand Development.
  • Five (5) or more years experience directly managing high-performance teams of at least 4 marketers.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop high-performing teams -- and the scrappiness to roll up your sleeves and build alongside your team. Equal investment in getting things done and in helping your team members grow.
  • Big picture thinker and results-oriented operator; can connect the dots from company strategy to “big ideas” to tactical execution.
  • Experience building new programs from scratch; scrappy, budget-conscious, and knows how to balance quality with speed for a meaningful MVP initiative. 
  • Comfortable working in a matrix environment and able to influence without direct authority. Able to prioritize workloads, support many stakeholders, and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial; thrives in a fast-paced environment without a set playbook -- with all the opportunities and challenges that entails.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels, from individual contributors to executive staff. 
  • Outstanding written communication skills to powerfully represent our brand.
  • A true thought partner capable of driving the right outcomes, offering creative solutions to various business challenges, and always thinking ahead. 
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly desired or equivalent experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for the outdoors
  • Direct B2C marketing experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable leveraging data to drive strategy and campaign decisions as well as to articulate program impact
  • Experience collaborating with in-house creative teams
  • Experience with matrix organizations and with change management as a leader, to support our rapidly growing organization
