Senior Business Development Manager I

onX is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to identify step-change opportunities, craft strategies, and launch high-level partnerships that will advance the company’s existing products and will play a crucial role in launching new products. This individual will increase the company’s exposure to potential customers, enhance the value that onX delivers to a wide range of users, and win access to proprietary and differentiating data sources. The Sr. Manager will be a critical component for realizing the company’s business development strategies from ideation through the early stages of long-term deals. This leader will focus on developing opportunities across the private, nonprofit, and government sectors. They must be able to articulate a sound strategic vision, develop well-crafted written strategy plans,  and work seamlessly with the onX leadership team. This role does not involve direct sales. The Senior Business Development Manager will report to the VP, Business Development.


Missoula, MT; Bozeman, MT; or Remote from the USA only. 


(Essential Job Duties)

  • Establish and advance the company’s business development strategy with a scope that includes bringing  proprietary technology and data to onX, offering increased exposure to potential onX customers,  generating integrations with other products, and creating a range of additional benefits to the company and its customers; 
  • Develop a rigorous understanding of the industry landscape, trends, and market sizes to inform strategies and prioritization;
  • Build and nurture relationships across sectors with leaders who have the authority and capacity to create meaningful and bold partnerships;
  • Devise strategic partnership priorities, making difficult but well-informed decisions that improve chances of success, limit risk, increase learning, and improve the onX customer experience;
  • Develop thorough business cases and robust financial models for various partnership structures and opportunities; 
  • Collaborate across the onX organization to gather information, develop partnership plans, and coordinate partnership pilots; 
  • Foster creativity and innovation to envision opportunities;
  • Forecast resources required to accomplish key goals on schedule and on budget; 
  • Manage all stages of business development pipelines; 
  • Measure success and learning from experiments, pilot projects, and fully realized alliances; 
  • Assist VP of Business Development in Corporate Development strategy, planning, and development.


  • Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum of ten (10) or more years of relevant experience, with a focus on establishing and maintaining high-level partnerships in relevant industries 
  • Experience with budgeting and financial modeling


  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA) preferred
  • Experience managing business development teams 
  • Familiarity with and experience in B2C mobile technology companies with subscription/SaaS  monetization models 
  • Experience with enterprise sales motions, pipeline management, outreach, and account management
  • Familiarity in market analysis and strategy development
  • Has a well established and extensive professional network in key target industries and businesses relevant to onX’s strategies
