Events Marketing Manager

onX is seeking a creative, results-driven Events Marketing Manager with a passion for creating memorable and impactful in-person experiences that drive brand awareness for prospects, product engagement and brand affinity for customers, and positive morale for internal employees. You will create and support events across all three onX verticals (Hunt, Offroad, and Backcountry), including everything from managing logistics for existing tradeshows and race sponsorships, to creating new live event types such as roadshows or customer meetups. You will also own our internal events, in particular spearheading our annual company strategy-and-social gathering, Camp onX.

This is a new role at onX and provides a great opportunity to make a significant impact on the business. As the first Events Marketing Manager, you will need to blend your mastery of events execution with a strong test-and-learn strategy; you’ll be responsible for defining and building-from-the-ground-up new event programs to test, leading the execution of the events end-to-end, and measuring and evaluating results to define your next initiative. This role will report to the VP of Growth and Marketing. 


Missoula, MT or Bozeman, MT required. 


(Essential Job Duties)

  • Build internal events to improve employee experience -- In particular, you will own the creation of a Camp onX experience, including all logistics and execution, to facilitate our employee base (300+ employees) coming together. 

  • Execute field events program end-to-end -- Responsible for end-to-end field event program planning, project management, branding, budget and logistics from initial planning to post-event program follow up, while collaborating across multiple business units.   

  • Innovate and generate new event ideas -- While some events that we attend will be determined by the business units (e.g. trade shows, races, etc.), you will also be responsible for generating new ideas and recommendations for events to attend -- and perhaps more importantly, for generating ideas for events that onX can create and host to drive awareness and customer growth.  

  • Understand our product, our customers, and the outdoor recreation event landscape - You’ll have a deep understanding of how to engage our target audience, you’ll have the context on relevant events nationwide to know where we should be and how we should show up, and you’ll ensure we have the right resources at each event for success. Meanwhile, you’ll play a role in educating prospects and customers at the events you plan, so you’ll always be ready with a strong product demo.  

  • Make data-driven decisions and own your results -- Establish benchmarks for engagement, installs, and purchases from events; evaluate and report on results against goals, and generate learnings for improvement.   

  • Work within a budget to drive ROI, understanding the balance between being scrappy and providing high-quality, memorable interactions.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in Events/Field Marketing
  • Demonstratable experience building event programs from scratch
  • Experience managing events designed to drive large-scale awareness
  • Ability to run multiple concurrent projects within established timelines
  • Exceptional project management skills and clear documentation
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and budget management skills, with the ability to work across all levels of an organization
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, creativity, and passion to deliver events that impress, across highly diverse audiences
  • Bias to action and focused on results; comfortable driving measurement and optimization


  • Passion for the outdoors
  • Experience managing events for both internal-company and external-prospect audiences
  • Startup experience or experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Thrives in an environment without a set playbook -- with all the opportunities and challenges that entails
  • Analytical chops to measure the effectiveness of marketing programs
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills (written, verbal, and visual)
